Fight Tales Community Guidelines

How we keep this space honest, safe and worth showing up for.

Fight Tales exists to share real stories about real fights. Some are loud. Some are quiet. Some are still unfolding. This is a place for lived experience, not performance, judgement or fixing

To keep this space supportive and grounded, we ask everyone to follow a few simple rules of the ring.

Lead with Respect (Always)

Everyone here is sharing something personal, whether its raw, messy, unfinished or hard to name.

  • Speak to people as people, no arguments
  • No shaming, mocking or belittling others experience
  • Disagreement is allowed, disrespect is not

This Is a Story Space, Not a Debate Club

  • Fight Tales is about sharing, not winning
  • We centre lived experience over opinions
  • Avoid unsolicited advice or diagnosis unless clearly invited
  • Listening is a contribution

No Harmful or Abusive Content

Some topics are heavy, but harm doesn’t get a platform.

We do not allow:

  • Hate speech, harassment, or discrimination of any kind
  • Glorification of violence, self-harm, abuse or harm to others
  • Encouragement of dangerous behaviour
  • Trolling, baiting, or bad faith engagement

If your post crosses a line it will be removed or declined.

Share Your Story, Not Someone Else’s

  • Don’t share identifiable details about others without their consent
  • You’re welcome to use pseudonyms or submit anonymously
  • If your story involves others, write from your own perspective and experience

Be Mindful of Triggers

  • Please add content warnings where appropriate (e.g. violence, self-harm, abuse, addiction)
  • Graphic detail isn’t necessary to make a story powerful
  • Remember that readers may be in vulnerable places themselves

This Is Not Therapy (But It Still Matters)

Fight Tales is a community, not a crisis service or medical platform

  • We can’t provide professional advice or emergency support
  • If you or someone else is in immediate danger, please seek help from appropriate services

Moderation Is Part of Care

To protect this space, Fight Tales is moderated

  • We may decline to publish content that doesn’t align with these guidelines
  • Repeated breaches may result in removal from the community

Come As You Are, Stay As Long As You Need

You don’t need to be eloquent, inspirational or on the other side of your fight

  • Unfinished stories are welcome
  • Quiet readers belong here too
  • You don’t owe anyone your trauma

Fight Tales works because people trust it. That trust is fragile and shared by everyone here. Treat it carefully.

If something doesn’t sit right, step back

If you’re unsure ask

If you’re hurting you’re not alone

Thank you for being a part of the Fight Tales community

By Christy Rathbone

The founder of Fight Tales. Crazy by definition before and after she died (It’s a long term personality trait). Christy is addicted to vintage far out clothes and music, from Leonard Cohen to Iggy Pop. Always looking forward to wine o’clock hanging out with friends and trying not to act her age. Living life to the full after very nearly loosing hers!

Life Death And Sweet Potato

I was told I wouldn’t make it. That I’d never walk, never see, never rebuild my life. They were wrong.

This book is my story—the raw, unfiltered truth of surviving trauma, fighting for a second chance, and proving that no matter how far you fall, you can rise again.

If you’ve ever struggled, if you’ve ever been told you can’t, this is for you.
